Shopify Planet
We have partnered with Shopify Planet, an ecommerce app which has enabled carbon-neutral shipping for over 10 million orders since 2019.
Here's how it works: Shopify Planet tracks orders placed at our store, collecting data on weight, distance, and mode of transport, and feeds this into a formula to estimate CO2 emissions. Based on this estimate, a portion of our revenue is donated to the Shopify Sustainability Fund, which invests in the most promising technologies for reversing climate change. The fund supports nine different methods, including pulling carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, converting carbon waste into energy, storing carbon, repurposing carbon into rocks and concrete, reforestation, and farming innovations. All of these companies have been vetted by scientists from Carbon Direct.
