- GOTS certified cotton: Cotton is grown without harmful chemicals, using 90% less water and 60% less energy compared to conventional cotton. Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification also ensures adherence to international labor standards, which is crucial as forced labor is common in some cotton-growing regions.
- Ringspun fibres: Cotton fibres are spun in a way that creates a stronger, more refined, and more durable yarn. This process significantly enhances the yarn's resistance to wear and tear.
- Combed yarns: Ringspun yarns are combed to remove the short fibers and impurities, giving the T-shirt a softer feel.
- 180gsm fabric: Combed yarn is woven into a weighty, premium fabric offering the best of both worlds: warmth in cooler weather and breathability in warmer conditions.
- OEKO-TEX® 100 certified T-shirt dyes. We use ‘reactive dyes,’ free from toxic and harmful chemicals, such as pesticides, heavy metals, and formaldehyde. Reactive dyes directly bond with the fibres, rather than simply coating them. Less dye is needed to penetrate the fabric, which means less rinsing, and less wastewater. Any residual wastewater is responsibly treated per OEKO-TEX® requirements.
This t-shirt is made from 100% vegan materials. Our production partner, Stanley/Stella, does not conduct or commission animal test on ingredients, formulations, or finished products, and has pledged never to do so.
- Fair Wear® Certified: Our shirts are made by sustainability trailblazer Stanley/Stella in a Fair Wear® certified factory. This is important because labour rights are routinely ignored in the garment sector. Issues include pitifully low wages, precarious employment conditions, incidences of sexual harassment and gender-based violence, health and safety breaches, the inability to collectively bargain for better conditions, and in some cases, forced and child labour. Fair Wear® brings brands into compliance with its Code of Labour Practices (CoLP), eight labour standards derived from ILO Conventions and the UN Declaration on Human Rights.
- Fair Wear® Leadership: Stanley/Stella is a Fair Wear® Leader. Leaders are brands doing exceptionally well against CoLP standards and continuously improving. Stanley/Stella achieved a benchmarking score of 77/100 in its 2023 Audit.
Traditional T-shirt printing methods suffer from two big problems: excessive water usage and water pollution.
- Waterless printing eliminates the water or dampening system used for keeping the non-image area free of ink. Instead of water, this method uses a layer of silicon that repeals the ink from the non-image area on the print. We print with advanced technology from Kornit Digital, a Bluesign® system partner, whose printers use 95% less water than conventional methods, with no emission of hazardous VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), less running time and less waste. The color range is wider, and the image definition better.
- We solved the second problem with Kornit’s water-based NeoPigment™ inks. Water-based ink does not include plastic, which makes it a more eco-friendly option relative to plastisols. NeoPigment™ inks meet strict OEKO-TEX® 100 standards. These are vibrant, colourfast inks with no harmful side effects. Water-based inks bond to the fabric, rather than sitting on top of it. This means they are not prone to cracking and peeling.
- We run our business on the Shopify e-commerce platform, which hosts merchants in 175 countries. Shopify recognizes that commerce can only thrive in the long term if our planet thrives too. Even if we stop emitting CO2 today, the existing concentration in the atmosphere will continue to warm the planet. Therefore Shopify has chosen to focus on carbon removal.
- In 2022, Shopify co-founded (with Stripe, Alphabet, Meta, and McKinsey Sustainability) the world’s first market for carbon removal, called Frontier.
- By the end of 2023, Frontier had signed contracts worth $55 million across 40 companies to deliver almost 85,000 tons of durable carbon removal, either through Direct Air Capture or other methods. As examples:
- Climeworks: A Swiss company whose Direct Air Capture technology removes CO₂ from the air, after which it is permanently stored underground.
- Charm Industrial: Charm captures CO₂ using agricultural waste, converts it into a stable, carbon-rich liquid, and stores it deep underground.
- Grassroots Carbon: Helps ranchers modify land management practices to improve soil and ecological health, which captures and stores more carbon in soil.
- InPlanet: Uses enhanced weathering to permanently sequester carbon dioxide and regenerate tropical soils.
- 44.01: Eliminates CO2 by turning it into rock. Its technology accelerates the natural process of CO2 mineralization to remove captured CO2 permanently.
- Shopify Planet is an app that allows merchants like us to shrink the carbon footprint of every order. Shopify Planet works by calculating the estimated shipping emissions from each order and then allowing us to fund carbon removal companies to offset those emissions. The app measures emissions monthly and algorithms calculate the cost of the credits we purchase. These credits ensure that all orders for the month are carbon neutral.
- As of December 2022, more than 8,000 Shopify merchants had used Planet to neutralize shipping emissions on over six million orders, removing more than 5,000 tonnes of carbon.
- By creating demand for carbon removal as buyers of credits, we can help carbon removal companies scale. Over time, this will decrease their costs and reduce the price of carbon removal credits, thereby growing the overall market.
When it comes to packaging, we prioritized functionality over aesthetics. Your T-shirt is shipped from Europe in a post-consumer recycled (PCR) poly mailer, 70-100% of which is made from everyday items like used plastic bags and bottles.
It's not flashy. It won't win a World Packaging Design Award any time soon. But it's lightweight, waterproof, and durable, all of which are needed to protect what's inside. And, it supports a circular economy, because this packaging is infinitely recyclable.

People, planet & animal-friendly, this t-shirt is made by Stanley/Stella from certified organic cotton, grown with 91% less water. Illustration by Jesse Bellavance.
Note: This shirt prints in the UK and European Union only. Non-European customers please allow an extra 10-14 days for delivery. We offset our shipping emissions by supporting carbon removal start-ups. More details here.
Made-to-Order: Your t-shirt is printed only after you place your order, which is why it takes us a little longer to deliver the finished product to you. Printing on demand drastically reduces overproduction, fast fashion’s dirty little secret.
Printing: We exclusively use inks that are Oeko-Tex™ certified, vegan, water-based, free of harmful chemicals, and have a high washing colorfast AATCC rating of 4. To ensure durability, a harmless fixation agent is applied prior to printing which disappears with the first wash. Advanced printing technology by Kornit, a Bluesign® System Partner, generates almost zero wastewater.
Packaging: T-shirts are packed in post-consumer recycled (PCR) mailers made from everyday items, like used plastic bags and bottles. The amount of PCR in the packaging will differ depending on where your order gets printed, but it’s at least 50% for the outside (white or grey) poly mailer bags and at least 30% for the inside (clear) bags used in multi-item shipments.
Care Instructions: Your shirt is not pre-washed and needs to freshen up after its long journey to your doorstep. Before wearing, turn inside-out and (always) wash cold. Hang dry (do not tumble-dry, shirt will shrink). Iron inside-out.
Size guide: Size labels (e.g. S M L) vary across brands and regions. So, measure a t-shirt that already fits you well and use this as a reference to choose the correct size in the table below. Please note that we do not accept returns of made-to-order products ordered in the wrong size, so be sure to measure before ordering.
